Ascent Trip Report

I crossed the West Mill Brook Trail Ford by sliding over a downed tree, then started my trail hike to a first gate and parking area baring further car travel along the Dix Wilderness Trail. Here I bushwacked an old road heading northwest going up and over Jug Mtn's northeast ledges and rock slopes and at times needing to backtrack safer routes up to an open rocky summit view. I was surprised to find a primitive lean-to just below the summit, built of saplings under a large tin roof sheltering horse shoes in a back corner. I admired a summit of plump, green blueberries just waiting to ripen. An orange blazed (maybe hunter's) trail went down more easily past the steep, ledges and more westerly to a ravine and stream which descent arrives at a second Dix Wilderness Trail gate with blue property paint blazes and more orange surveyor's tape about, yippee!
