Time: Sat 19 Aug 06, start 16:00, ascent 1:50, descent 1:10 (Signpost time: 4h ascent)

Start: from WSW, 6km NE of Voreppes, car park at les 3 Fontaines,
Route: signed and paintmarked route, to summit as mapped, descent via path down SSE ridge, unmapped but paintmarked, rejoining mapped path at stile, approx at treeline.

Difficulties: Ascent: 10m of 1m wide ledge over a big drop, fixed cable for security, not really needed. Descent: SSE ridge path steep and rough, some scrambling, descendable OK facing forward.

Trig point: bent nail in rock just N of cairn, marked with “_RPENTAGE”
(the _ probably represents an initial obliterated letter)

Notes: initially through forest, then pasture, nice compact rock/grass summit, with Cross, impressive drop to W; views patchy due to cloud. 3 other parties seen. Alpine Chough seen (first of many); Black Woodpecker heard. Humid, dry except for heavy rain during final part of descent, absorbed by forest.
