Ascent Trip ReportOne of the more curious national high points. A long walk up a stone staircase - the eponymous Chemin des Revoires gets you there. Its not quite that simple. There are several other flights of steps winding between the streets contouring Monaco's bay. And building work has closed one section, necessitating a detour, but not through the tempting Jardin des Exotiques if, like me, you arrive after it closes at 5:30 pm. Splodges of red and white paint mark in Monegasque colours the point where the boundary cuts the Chemin des Revoires just before it reaches the Moyenne Corniche and France.
While in Monaco, be sure to visit the Jardin Japonais on the promenade between Monaco and Monte Carlo. It is designed according to well-researched Japanese principles - although I'm no expert! - and the sense of tranquillity and delight is palpable.
