Ascent Trip ReportA drive up on the State Line Road.
If you are approaching from the north I suggest you read John Hasch TR of 2007. We approached from the Ohio side. From the Mercer-Darke Co Line at Hwy #49, we drove south on 49 for 1.6 miles to a right on Peters Road, 3.5 miles west to a left on the State Line Road, 1 mile south to the crest-of-the road where we parked the van.
To the left, on the Ohio side, are 2 USGS Markers about 50 yards apart "ZION No 1, 1932" and "ZION No 2, 1932", both embedded in a concrete base, but the southern taller-one toppled over.
The Jay CoHP is between the 2 BM, 15 yards east of the road in open harvested corn field, 5 feet higher than the road, my GPS 40.31665,-84.80381. The PB coordinates puts the spot on the road.
There is visual high ground to the southwest at abt 50 yards but my my not-too reliable eye-level told me that it's lower.
We drove a short distance north to Mercer CoHP in Ohio.
