Ascent Trip Report

A woods-track/bushwack nb from FR#11 ...... 4.3 miles, 2 hour RT.

I did this CoHP on the same outing as the Garland CoHP, my TH was at the corner of FR#11/#771 located 2.17 miles west of Hwy 7 (see Ouachita Pinnacle TR for the driving directions) .... the start of #771 can be clearly seen on the Satellite Maps, the Deckard summit is due north.

FR#771, gated at 250 yards from the TH, is a multi-purpose yellow-blazed woods track (closed to Vehicles), easy to follow.
I left the TH westbound for a short distance where the track bends/winds north, drops to a sag and passes a man-made pond on the right (33 minutes), then another pond on the right (45 Minutes, 1.75 miles from TH)) ..... here the track heads west and the summit is at 30 degree compass at about .4 miles. I started my bushwack in open woods with no underbrush to speak-of, higher up however I had some small /thorny underbrush .... a moderately steep easy bushwack.
I arrived at the wooded summit in 65 minutes, no views. I found the BM 5 yards south of the small cairn, somewhat beat-up and hard to read "US Coast & Geodetic Survey Marker, Beckard, 1946".
After a 15 minute break I descended to the TH in 40 minutes.

I must note that this whole area has had a recent forest fire so the bushwacking today was easy, however once the forest has been rejuvenated I would expect the bushwack to be a lot worse and full of thorns. Similar to what I saw in other areas.
