Ascent Trip Report

The approach to Burro Peak is from Hwy 90 near virtual milepost 19.3 next to a Historical Marker. The dirt road is signed as Gold Culch Road. Zero your odometer and go north. At 3.3 miles turn right and the road is now called Jacks Peak Road and is signed as 836. At 4.6 cross a wide wash, and at 6.7 miles reach a windmill on your left. After the windmill the road deteriorates and becomes high clearance and maybe 4WD in spots. At 9.3 miles reach a saddle and notice several old cement building foundations on the left. Also, you will see some comm towers on Jacks Peak just a little ways further up the road. I parked at near one of the cement foundations.

I just hiked straight down the hill until I found the CDT and then followed it down through the saddle and up the other side. Stay on the CDT all the way to the ghigh point. Burro Peak high point is off to your left about 100 ft. I found the benchmark and another pile of rocks that I thought were higher than the benchmark. There are also rocks off to the right of the trail that may be higher also. I found no register. There are no views because of the trees. Nice short hike with ptaches of snow along the way.
