Ascent Trip ReportThe summit of Chapman is just off the Appalachian Trail, but this was one nasty bushwhack (unless other people usually find a route up that we did not). The route to the summit area is short but it is a mess of blowdowns, rotten logs, deep moss, tangled branches. The final stretch up to the summit was more of a swim than a hike. It's even hard to know that you're at the summit without looking at the GPS reading. But balancing on a log somewhere around the top we could see blue sky in every direction through the trees. That's probably as close as we were going to get to being sure about this one.
