Ascent Trip ReportIn the town of Fawnskin on the north side of Big Bear Lake take Rim of the World Drive which is a paved road heading NW from highway 38. After 0.4 mile the pavement ends and a sign indicates the road is forest road 3N14. At 1.3 miles turn left on road 2N13 which is shown as 2N68 on some older maps. At 1.6 miles go straight where road 2N80 turns off to the right. At 2.1 miles pass Grays Peak campground. At 2.3 miles continue right on 2N13 where 2N70 turns off to the left. At 3.0 miles stop where the road makes a turn to the right and crosses a seasonal stream. Park on the south side of the road at this turn where an old logging road takes off to the SE up the canyon. Start the hike following the old road which ends in a few hundred feet. Stay alongside the canyon bottom choosing the side which has the least brush until you reach at saddle NE of point 7724 ft. shown on the topo map. From here head NE through some brushy areas to the summit. The distance is 2 miles round-trip with a gain of about 650 ft. Allow 3/4 hour for the ascent and 1/2 hour down. 6/95 RLC
