Ascent Trip ReportFrom the San Bernardino area take highway 330 north up into the San Bernardino Mountains to the community of Running Springs. At the junction of highway 18 which is 0.1 mile east of an overpass in Running Springs reset your odometer and continue 1.0 mile further east on route 18 and then turn right onto Keller Peak Road. This is forest road 1N96. After 1/2 mile turn right on a dirt road that shortly drops down to a seasonal stream crossing and then turns right to a gate. If the gate is open you can drive almost all the way to the summit in a 4WD vehicle. From Keller Peak Road note the following mileages to the summit: At 0.35 miles go left at a junction up a hill and at 0.65 miles go right at another junction. The road then goes west around a hill then turns south going up some steep grades. When the road levels out at the top, park at 1.25 miles before it starts to descend. The summit is about 100 yards to the west up through the forest. 6/95 RLC
