Ascent Trip ReportThe trailhead for the peak is reached by driving the Nacimiento Road through Fort Hunter-Liggett Army Base. From the guard shack the junction to the road north toward the lookout is 20.9 miles on a good paved road. From highway 1 on the coast the junction is 7.0 miles up a steep and winding grade. From the junction proceed north toward Cone Peak on a good graded dirt road. The trailhead is at a turn to the right after 5.3 miles. There is a sign marking the trail. UTM here is: 636680E, 3989535N. The hike to the summit is mostly on a good trail and takes about 1 3/4 hours. The one-way distance is estimated at about 2 1/2 to 3 miles with a gain of 1400 feet. 5/02 RLC
