Ascent Trip ReportThis peak has an old lookout tower which is going to be restored. To reach the peak from Interstate 10 in Redlands, take the Orange St. exit which is highway 38 leading to Big Bear Lake. Head north on Orange St. for six blocks (about 0.6 mile) until you reach Lugonia St. which is highway 38. Turn right and drive for approximately 8 miles through Mentone to the junction with Bryant St. which heads to Yucaipa. From here continue on route 38 north toward Big Bear for another 2.4 miles to a dirt road on your left. Turn left onto this road which is forest road 1N12. The road has deep ruts and high-clearance is needed. Follow this road for 1.0 miles to a locked gate on the left for road 1S13 which is not marked. Park near the gate and hike up the old road for 1.7 miles to the lookout tower at the summit. The elevation gain on the road is about 700 feet and the hike takes about 45 minutes. 6/01 RLC
