To reach the mountain from the highway junction north of Pine Flat and east of California Hot Springs dive the paved highway north from the junction for 8.9 miles to forest road 23S66 on your left. There is a cattle guard here and it appears that the road is open all the time. Take this good dirt road and stay right at a junction after 0.4 miles. At 0.6 miles reach a broad area where there are a lot of logging chips on the ground and turn left and go 0.1 miles to the end of the road. UTM here is: 351130E, 3978640N. Start hiking west up the ridge through the forest to the top. Look for a register at the top of a split summit rock. The hike is only 0.3 miles with an elevation gain of about 500 ft. and should take about 1/2 hour. 5/96 RLC
