Mount Marcy,Mount Skylight Attempt
November 11-13, 2011

November 11, 2011 we set out to summit Mt. Marcy and Mt. Skylight.
We left Calamity Brook trail Head in Upper Works late at 10:30am headed for a lean to on Opalescent River Trail. We made it to Feldspar Lean-to and set up our tent at the adjacent campsite. Trails from Upper Works were moist with several mud crossings with increasing snow.
Next morning we were planning to summit Marcy and Skylight.
We left approx 10am and reached the summit at 1pm. Temps were in the teens with cold stiff winds at 45-55mph Producing a severely cold wind chill. Stayed on summit for approx 10 mins and proceeded down to col between Skylight and Marcy. Realized i lost my head lamp and due to severe wind we decided to call off Skylight and hurried back to the tent site arriving at approx 2.45pm.
from there we decided to pack up everything and hurry out back to the trail head and ended up walking the majority out in the dark with assistance of flashlights. we reached the truck at approx 9pm.
