Ascent Trip Report"Peak 1058,"unnamed on the 7.5' topo, is the highest point in Silas Condict Park of the Morris County Park System. From NJ-23 take Kinnelon Road west 1.0 miles and turn right onto the signed park road, William Lewis Arthur Drive. Take the road to a large parking area overlooking a lake and casino building. Peak 1058 looms in the background on the far ridge behind the lake. Walk past the casino, pick up a trail map at a kiosk, and see a ballfield. Beyond left field is a gravel road heading left and past a small pond. Soon see a triple white blaze marking one end of a loop trail that heads for Peak 1058 and then returns to a trailhead a short distance back on the entrance road from where you parked. Follow the white trail over an intermediate knob, drop to a saddle, then climb Peak 1058. The summit is a nifty rock ridge left of the trail, requiring a short bushwhack. A couple of ramps afford easy access to the sharp summit block. Interestingly, it's at the southern, narrower part of the summit contour rather than where it's shown on this website. Field coordinates: N40.99488 X W74.39066. Return the same way or continue the loop. I returned to the saddle, bushwhacked down the drainage a short distance to pick up the east side of the loop trail, then followed it back to the access road. That was not worth the effort IMO. Allow an hour for the round trip.
