Ascent Trip ReportInteresting day. Scott and I ascended the crazy steep and hairy section on Six Husbands trail where the only hand hold (root) was freshly ripped out on a 15ft long 45 degree slab that had water trickling in all the wrong spots, with a nasty drop off. Many fun ladders. Saw one person on six husbands, otherwise great trail all to ourselves. On way down Gulfside ran into couple #1 who were lost, had climbed up and over Clay and were looking for the Jewell Tr. Re-oriented them and got them going. Down sphinx was slow and hairy. ice cold water flowed over slippery boulders down the entire trail. was interesting though, different. Once we got down safely, made good time down Great Gulf. About two miles from PL, ran into male couple #2 who had given their big map to other friends at Pinkham and had done a 22mi loop with a map that was short the trails they needed. They had to hike out with us, then giving them a lift while their friends passed us on the road ensued... ended up bringing them back to the PL where they hopefully caught up with their friends who should have had enough sense to double back to get them. MIT students, one had hiked the AT. GO FIGURE.
