Ascent Trip ReportNice day to hike Cannon, Cannonballs, and the Kinsmans. Started early at the Tramway parking lot and up the Kinsman Ridge trail. Lower part was steep and badly eroded. About half way up the trail we ran into sections of THICK ice. Particularly liked the section on this trail where you get out of the trees and see straight down in to the Notch - real pretty with clouds floating around the ridge as the sun was rising. Cold and windy here and then atop Cannon. Cannonballs were fine - sections of ice here and there, but pretty trail. Made it to the Kinsman Junction to meet up with the Random group by 10:15. Lots of views from both Kinsmans. Sun and clear skies - and it finally warmed up after a chilly morning. Great hike.
