Ascent Trip ReportWe arranged to do this hike as a one way hike using two cars. We dropped off one car at the trailhead at the end of County Route 56 in Maplecrest, NY. We then drove to the start trailhead at the end of Barnum Road. The trip up Thomas Cole Mountain was an easy ascent with several false summits and flat cols to cross before finally reaching the summit. We then continued down to the col and up to the summit of Black Dome. When we descended into the col between Black Dome and Blackhead we decided that we were not up to doing Blackhead so we took the side trail from the col directly down to the ending trailhead. We had a great day with wonderful views along the way!
