Ascent Trip Reportcounter-clockwise loop from Lafayette Place trail head. Falling Waters Trail; over Haystack, Lincoln, and Lafayette. Started at 7am. Cascades were beautiful! We took our time to the summit of Haystack, arriving at 11:14. Had lunch, bundled up, and hiked the ridge over to Lincoln and then Lafayette. Descending from Lafayette was brutal; as soon as we did the up and over a strong wind (70mph sustained) kicked up. It took us well over an hour to reach treeline as we were completely exposed. The trip down Old Bridle Path was icy, muddy and slippery. We slowly picked our way down and made it back to the trailhead parking lot just after dark at 4:30pm. A tough loop to complete safely (for us) unless you get a very early start.
