Ascent Trip Report"Firstview Hill" has 4 contending areas, which are spread out in a N-S line ranging from ¾ mile N to 1½ miles S of Firstview, which is little more than a handful of grain silos. Firstview is on US-40 ~10 miles W of Cheyenne Wells CO, which is in turn ~17 miles W of the KS border. Anyone interested in "climbing" the hill can conveniently combine it with Mt Sunflower, the KS state HP.
From US-40 on the E side of Firstview, I headed 0.5 mile N on Rd 34 to County Rd R and parked at junction 4577. A more intrepid driver might head W a few tenths of a mile, but I saw little point. I hiked ¼ mile W and negotiated a fence to the large area S of the road. The northernmost area is barely discernible in the field, and I'm sure it's lower than the southern area, but I walked out to it also just to satisfy any skeptics.
For the two areas south of US-40, I headed 1.5 miles S of the highway on County Rd 34, then turned R (W) on an unsigned road an additional 0.6 miles to its end at a tower. The highest ground on the southernmost area is right at the end of the service road. I then hiked 0.4 mile N across open field (not under cultivation at the time) to the northern of the two southern areas.
No access issues, though the field containing the very northernmost of the 4 areas was plowed. Why that would be the case in November is beyond me.
