Ascent Trip Report

Parked before the gate on Carriage Rd. and walked the road to the upper parking lot.

The road was steep in parts, and to make matters worse, portions of it were covered in snow and ice. The walk up the road was scenic, though. It passed over waterfalls and by the slopes of Piper Mountain. As the upper parking lot came into view, the mountain was almost completely covered in snow.

Took the Green Trail up after stopping at the lot and reading the side of the shack before the trail. This trail was kind of steep, and having to walk on snow, ice, and slippery rocks didn't help. The trail passed under power lines and took detours around them, with a few good viewpoints along the way. A few shacks came into view, and the fire tower and communications tower eventually did also.

The fire tower's steps were a little icy, but it didn't matter. The views from the top of the tower were amazing. I could see Lake Winnipesaukee, some of the Whites, and (I think) Mt. Washington.

Went back down to the truck after taking a food and water break and getting some video and pictures.
