Ascent of Euchre Mountain on 2011-10-16
|Date:||Sunday, October 16, 2011|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||2452 ft / 747 m|
Ascent Trip ReportEuchre Mountain is in a logging area that has limited access outside of weekends during the hunting season. I approached from Hwy 229 at Ichwit Park. There is a road across the highway from the park that is FR 16 and the gate was open this Sunday. Zero your odometer and at 4.0 miles cross a bridge, at 7.9 miles turn right, at 8.1 take the right fork, at 8.4 go straight, at 8.9 go through an open gate then pass a large rusty water tank, and at 9.1 stop at a gated road that cuts back sharply to the left. I hiked up the road, statyed right at both forks and reached the summit where there is a radio tower. There is a witness benchmark pointing into the trees on the north side of the fence. I couldn't find the benchmark.
There are some views of the coast line from the road on the hike up.
