Ascent of Mount Hancock-Middle Peak on 2011-10-16| Date: | Sunday, October 16, 2011 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Peak: | Mount Hancock-Middle Peak | | Location: | USA-New Hampshire | | Elevation: | 4280 ft / 1304 m |
Ascent Trip ReportToday I hiked the standard Hancock Notch/Cedar Brook/Hancock Loop route from the Kancamagus Highway hairpin, visiting Hancock and South Hancock.
The trails were wet, and it threatened to rain, but I only experienced brief sprinkles a few times. Some of the stream crossings were difficult today. While it was possible to rock hop most of the crossings, a few were tricky enough that wet feet were almost inevitable.
It was overcast, with occasional partial clearing, but luckily the clouds were high enough not to obscure the views. Both Hancock peaks have a nice outlook spot just downslope from the summit.
