Ascent Trip ReportI accessed Round Mountain from the south. In Valley Falls where Hwy 395 and Hwy 31 split, zero your odometer and drive north on Hwy 31. At 16.3 miles turn left onto Cloverflat Road and then left again. At 21.6 miles reach the end of pavement, at 25.6 take the right fork towards Moss Pass, at 26.9 cross a cattle guard and teh road becomes FR 3510, at 27.8 go straight, at 28.8 turn right, and at 30.3 miles reach Moss Pass. Turn right onto road 011, at 30.5 I passed through an open gate, and at 32.5 miles i reached the summit where there is a FAA facility on a flat graded summit. There were 2 guys on top on ATV's who were hunting. They had openned the gate and said they had to lock it when they went back down. Great views from the summit and I managed to beat the ATV'ers back through the gate. Be prepared to walk this last 2 miles to the summit. Good road all the way.
