Ascent Trip Report

Michael and I camped out the night before at Barnes Field Campsite off Rt. 16 on Friday. We arrived about 10:30 PM and met Leo there. The campsite next to us was packed with a bunch of people who were drinking and blasting their music. Michael set up the tent while I whimped out in the car. It was a brisk 31 degrees outside. I was thinking I was going to freeze my butt off and stayed in the warm car until the last possible moment. Once the tent was set up and I put on as many layers as possible, I went out and talked to Leo and Michael. Leo showed us his pictures from the Grand Canyon Trip.

We went to bed soon after, and even with the music blasting, we fell asleep. We woke up at 6:30 to a cool 21 degrees and ate breakfast and headed out to the trailhead. We met the group and began our ascent at about 8:45.
