Ascent Trip Report

Nice peak overall. Trail has been well maintained and is a gradual grade most of the way. 10.6 miles RT and the altitude are what probably make the hike rated strenuous by most hiking books. The 2K elevation gain is hardly noticable even during the last 1/4 of the mileage up which is where most of the gain occurs. Beautiful meadow and waterfall are passed about halfway point up. The Tahoe rim is quite noticable from the summit on the east side with the mountains dropping off on the left towards Carson Valley and then off to the right into the lake. Reno is a nice sight off to the northeast. Said a small prayer on the summit for Friday's airshow victims.
