Ascent Trip ReportThis was a pretty painful, dramatic, cool ascent. We started the actual ascent on Sunday evening after Galehead -- then we ran into an older guy and his son. The guy fell and hurt himself, so I went with them back to the hut, carrying his pack, while Kyle and Elan carried my pack onwards towards the Garfield campsite. I ran/jogged a lot of the way back from Galehead to Garfield, though the last half mile was a super steep scramble. Due to the rain the scramble had become a small waterfall. It was also dark and foggy -- couldn't see 3 ft in front of my face. Eventually made it to Garfield campsite, where Elan and Kyle were already in the process of putting up the tents (in the rain).
The next morning before packing up, we finished the ascent of Garfield. It was actually really cool up top. It was all foggy so the edges of the peak just faded out into nothing. The wind was really blowing and the rain was coming down. We stood up on the remains of the fire tower on the peak. We decided to not spend a whole lot of time up there since we were getting soaked.
