Ascent Trip ReportFirst peak of our Pemi hike -- loooong hike in before we started gaining any elevation. It made for a good warmup. The ascent wasn't terribly steep; there were some steep bits, and the heavy packs made for a little slower going. Still, we gained the peak about 4.5 hours after setting out, so we made pretty good time.
This is a fantastic mountain -- probably my favorite of the NH 48 thus far. The cliffs are really spectacular and give you some great view of the Pemi wilderness and the surrounding mountains. You're able to sit right on the cliffside and dangle your feet over a 1000ft dropoff. Pretty exciting stuff.
