Ascent Trip ReportHeading W on CT-66, between Meriden and Middletown, the highway becomes a freeway ~½ mile W of the intersection with CT-147. Immediately after becoming a freeway is a pullout on the N side, accessible only from the westbound lanes. This pullout is the trailhead for the blue-blazed Mattabessett Trail, which heads 1.8 miles N to the summit of Higby.
