|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
|Peak:||McCann Creek Mountain|
| Elevation:||8602 ft / 2621 m|
Ascent Trip ReportMcCann Creek is mostly a drive up. To get there go north from Elko on Hwy 225 and then take the Hwy 226 turn-off. On Hwy 226 there is a sign for Tuscarora to the left, turn left here and zero your odometer. At mile 5.5 pass the turn for Tuscarora, at 5.7 the road turns sharply left, and at 6.4 turn right onto a gravel road. At 7.2 take the left fork, at 8.2 pass a ranch on the left, and at 8.4 go through a gate. At 10.0 cross a small live creek, and at 10.3 go through another gate. The road gets steeper and at 13.0 reach a saddle, at 13.5 take the right fork and then the road gets rockier. At 14.1 take the left fork, at 15.4 cross a cattle guard, and at 16.1 take a right turn onto a lesser road. At 16.3 miles I parked at a gate at elevation 8,400 ft. The summit is an easy .5 mile hike east from here. 2WD may be able to drive all the way to where I parked. Great views.
