Ascent Trip ReportPine Mountain is located in northern Elko County and requires some driving to get close. The easiest way to get there is to drive up or down Hwy 225 to Wild Horse Reservoir and turn east on road 745 that has a sign for Big Bend Campground. Drive up this road about 8 miles to the Gold Creek Guard Station and turn right towards the station. Zero your odometer at the station adn continue up the road. At 1.8 miles cross a creek, and at 3.0 miles cross teh creek again. At 4.3 miles turn right and travel this road as far as you can. We parked at 6.5 miles, elevation 8,150 ft, and hiked from there.
We hiked up the road to its end and then turned right and kind of bushwhacked along animal trails until we climbed up to the rocky ridgeline on our right and then we combined talus rock hopping and bushwhacking most of the way to the summit. Good views from the summit.
