Ascent Trip ReportFrom US-93, about 5½ miles N of I-84, I headed E on ID-25. Call this point mile 0.0. At mile 0.6, just after a slight R curve, I turned L on E Rd. At mile 1.0 I turned L (N) on gravel 500E, toward the large antenna complex on the butte. At 1.4 miles I turned R at a junction, heading into the antenna farm. At 1.7 miles, in the middle of a L turn, I turned R. After just a tenth of a mile more, I parked at the base of the very tall red and white KMVT-TV tower.
I was unable to locate BM 4297 which is immediately NW of the tower (perhaps it is inside the fence). It is clear from visual inspection, however, that the highest point on the butte is a ridge of lava boulders a few hundred feet ESE of where I parked. I made the 2-minute hike through tall grass and scambled up the highest boulder. My GPS confirmed that this is higher than the ground around the KMVT tower, showing 4269 at the tower and 4287 on the lava ridge.
