Ascent Trip Report

I approached East Pryor from Big Pryor. Refer to that Trip Report for the first 30 miles of driving. From the Big Pryor trailhead I returned to the main forest road 2308 and turned right. Zero your odometer. This road is kind of rocky in spots and high clearaance with good tires is a good idea. 4WD is optional. At .5 mile go straight, at 1.6 mile take the right fork towards the Big Ice Cave. At 5.7 go left towards Dry Head Vista and bypass the Big Ice Cave picnic area, at 7.8 miles I passed a big black wild horse and at 10.0 miles pass a sign about the Wild Horse Area, pass a microwave tower on your left and at 11.9 park along a nice tall rail fence made from peeled logs. The high point is on the other side of the rail fence about .2 mile away. If you continue on the road and reach a fancy new gate, you have gone too far. You may be able to go through the gate and then drive up the high poit. Nice views of Big Prior from this area.
