Ascent Trip Report

I approached Bearpaw Baldy from Havre. I found 5th Avenue, zeroed odometer, and headed south. This is a nice drive on a paved road. I passed several campgrounds along Beaver Creek and at mile 29.7 I turned left on signed dirt Eagle Creek Road. This road may have problems if it is wet. I passed a big washout on the middle of the road by following tracks to the left and passed 3 log structures also. I drove 1.4 miles up this road to a saddle and parked. There is a fence on my left and I parked next to a gate that was open and a road heading towards Bearpaw Baldy.

I hiked the road as it went around a little drainage and then i left the road and climbed up theough some tall trees towards the high point. I found another road on the other side of the trees and followed it left nat then right directly toward the peak. When the road ended, I just climbed straight up the slope. I tried to stay on the grassy vegetated parts of the slope and aimed for a pair of rocky outcroppings that I could see on the ridgeline. The talus areas up the slope seemed to have loose talus and the vegetted areas had better footing. I finally gained the ridgeline just left of the left most rock outcropping, then followeed the ridge up an easy slope to the summit. Great views.
