Ascent of Mount Pierce on 2011-07-12| Others in Party: | Mike Jones | | Date: | Tuesday, July 12, 2011 | | Ascent Type: | Successful Summit Attained | | Motorized Transport to Trailhead: | Car | | Peak: | Mount Pierce | | Location: | USA-New Hampshire | | Elevation: | 4310 ft / 1313 m |
Ascent Trip ReportMike and I started the trip at 7:30am at the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trailhead. Luckily unlike the last hike there were not really any bugs for this one, but instead we had low clouds and fog that made visibility very limited. Everything was wet and it rained on and off. You couldn't see more than twenty feet in front of you once you got to the alpine zone. We summited Mt. Monroe around 10:00am and continued straight on to Eisenhower. We stopped to have lunch in the col between Eisenhower and Pierce since it was too windy and generally miserable above tree line. By the time we finished our hike around 2:30pm the sun was starting to come out. As a side note this was my first hike as a married man. Erika and I got married on the Sunday before!
