Ascent Trip Report

We did manage to do the drive up but it was a white knuckle situation for a Tacoma sized truck. The road has deteriorated in a couple places higher up that more than likely the ability to drive up will be lost soon. An ATV would be the best choice if you really want to make a drive up out of this one. I would NEVER try this road again, it is too risky. Best to walk the last couple of miles or stop at the first spot where it looks suspect. We had a goal of getting both Bilk and OreVada on the same day and that created a need to do the drive up. My advice, don't try to drive all the way as it is not being maintained. Ken drove his 4Runner to the summit and I drove my Tacoma. The communications stuff on the summit is probably now being serviced by helicopter hence there is no longer a need for the road.
