Ascent Trip Report

Day 2 of 3 in the Pemigewasset Wilderness

After a not so full night sleep at the Guyout Campsite, Kaerstin and I woke to a beautiful sun peaking through the trees. This is our 'sightseeing' day and we are excited that the weather is going to cooperate.

After a hearty breakfast of freeze dried scrambled eggs and bacon we headed out on the Bondcliff trail at 8:30 heading toward Mt. Bond. Since we are spending tonight at the campsite again, we don't need to carry as much in our packs and that is a welcome relief!

We reached the summit of Mt. Bond at 9:15 and the views are spectacular. Kaekae wants to have her breakfast here while she enjoys her cup o noodles, we both enjoy the magnificent views we have on the clear morning. The trail over to Bondcliffs looks so inviting!

After many pictures we head toward Bondcliffs, we reach the summit at 10:30. What an absolutely gorgeous area! Incredible views in all directions. This truly is the best of the White Mountains!

We head back to Guyout Campsite at around 11:45 arriving at 1:30.
Kaerstin takes the afternoon off as I head to Zealand via the Bondcliff Trail and Twinway. After spending the morning on Mt. Bond and Bondcliffs, Zealand is quite a let down. Other than it is one of the 48 4,000 footers in the Whites, there wasn't much of a reason to be here. I headed back to the campsite at 2:50, arriving just in time for dinner at 4:00.

Like the night before we headed up West Bond for the sunset. Unlike last night, this time we were blessed with a gorgeous sunset and a great finale for a spectacular day!
