Ascent Trip ReportCarter-Moriah range traverse in a day! With questionable weather, we decided to go North to South to avoid the potentially wet scramble up Wildcat E and avoid the slipper descent off North Carter. Wise choice as this was the way to go even with an extra 1000 feet of elevation. Small group - Al, Marta, Ashley, Jeff and I. Again, we were fast! Weather held out and clouds came and went all day - but we had some nice views in many spots. This is a very pretty trail - especially up Moriah and over the Carters. The gentle climb up Carter Dome is gentler than I remember and the descent down to the hut wasn't too bad. Heading up to Wildcat E was steep and unrelenting, but we made it in good time - we were more than hour ahead of schedule at this point. A little drizzle as we hiked the Wildcats made the rocks slippery but we made it to D and enjoyed some incredible views of the clouds around Washington. Almost eaten alive by bugs on the descent of Polecat - but we made it. and Finished the day in 11.5 hours.
