Ascent Trip ReportBald Mountain is a drive up to a manned fire lookout. Obviously there are great views from the summit and the lookout guy was nice and invited me in to tour the cab. Getting there involves a bit of a drive on good dirt roads. Take Hwy 96 from I-5 going west, when Hwy 96 crosses the Klamath River (about 15 miles from I-5) turn left on paved Walker Road. In a couple miles turn right on good dirt road 46N45 and zero your odometer. At 2.6 miles take the right fork onto 46N53, at 7.1 miles reach a ridge and take the left fork, at 7.8 miles make a hard left almost 180°, at 9.9 miles reach a saddle and go right, at 11.1 go through a gate that is open when there is someone at the fire lookout during the day, at 12.1 miles reach the nice summit.
