Ascent Trip ReportPresident's day weekend climb of Mount Adams. We Went up and back on Lowe's PAth sleeping at Crag Camp the first night as there was no room at Grey Knob. We Summited Adams via Lowe's Path, then circled down the back of Adams over to Madison Hut , then down Knife Edge trail to AirLine Trail left to the Gulfside Trail to Thunderstorm Junction then Down Spur Trail. The top was icy and the traverse from Madison hut extremely treacherous. A fall here would have been death. The Trail down the back of Adams was snowy and perhaps unstable. Not sure the name of this trail but it bypasses JQA to the right directly to Madison Hut. We were very careful and advanced with 100m between us across the snowfield. Snowshoes not necessary but could have helped towards the bottom of the Spur path. Temps were cold whilst in Crag Camp as it was open only for emergency. Heated by candle and people we were ok. We had a great trip. Oh and the Dog also summited. Her nail beds were bleeding as she had no crampons, across the traverse back from Madison Hut her Malamute/Husky/wolf genes were truely tested while she stayed uphill of us at all times leashed to one of us to prevent her sliding into the King Ravine.
