Ascent Trip Report

Moderate road/trail hike from northeast side ...... 2.4 miles, 45 minutes RT.

I approached from the TH at hwy 106 at northeast side and the start of the gated Tower Access Road (it is 1.4 miles west to the Welch Lake causeway or 1.7 miles east on 106/98 to the Palisades Interstate Parkway).
I hiked the road (about 1 mile) to just before the huge solid-looking Communication Tower (American Power Corp) on the summit ridge, where a yellow blazed trail (on the left) takes you .2 miles west to the Fire Tower and the obvious highpoint ..... a beautiful solid rock outcrop, my GPS read 41.22370, 74.07185. The PB coordinates puts the spot at a lower elevation.
The summit is wooded and you'll need to climb the Tower for views. A fairly open/mixed/deciduous forest with a lot of Oak and Maple.
