Ascent Trip ReportA moderate road hike from the northwest side .... 3.5km, 70 minutes RT.
I used directions in Gabriel Couet's TR of 2010 for this one. We found our way to Ham-Nord and the hwy intersection 161/216 just east of the village, where we traveled north on 216 for 3.3km to a right turn on an unsigned/gated Tower Access Road. Parked the car in front of the gate, this is the TH, the summit's Communication Tower can be seen to the southeast.
I walked/climbed the good Tower Access Road southeast to the col on the ridge (elev 550M) where it curves right (southwest) and climbs the ridge to the summit and the fenced-in Communication Tower (about 1.75km from the TH).
As I approached the summit area I chose my highground at a rock outcrop to the left, 100M before the Tower. In checking out the spot I found a Survey Marker embedded in the rock "Terre et Forets Quebec, Point Geodesique, 1971, #4653(not clear), #6159." My GPS read 45.90179, 71.57083.
The PB coordinates puts the highground at a lower elevation, a rock outcrop on the right 40M from the Tower. Partial views are available.
