Ascent Trip Report

My daughters and I turned off the main county road 4 in the "town" of Karbers Ridge onto CR 2 (High Knob Rd.). Travel north on High knob rd until you get to Knob Hill Lane which would be a right turn. There is actually a campground here but you will stay on Knob Hill Lane all the way through the campground. At the edge of the CG the hill turns sharply upward and it can be rough at times for a passenger car (but driveable). You'll reach a small parking lot at the top which has some picnic tables and the summit will be clearly visible just to your left. There is a trail at the edge of the picnic table that can be used to access the Hardin County HP which is a near liner with High Knob (Gallatin county HP). You'll need to note the county line on your GPSr so you can find the spot on the side of High Knob which is the Hardin County HP.

There is a nice view from the parking area at High Knob looking out over the countryside below. Enjoy!

Recommendations while in the area:

If you are in this area I HIGHLY recommend that you go to visit Garden of the Gods, and Rimrock Recration areas. While at Rimrock you can follow the nationally designated trail there and follow it to the Beaver trail which leads to Pounds Hollow Rec Area. This is a spectacular wonderful hike. These are VERY scenic areas and you'll take a lot of pictures along the way. Rimrock includes narrow passageways through towering rocks, and scenic views of Pounds Hollow Lake. Garden of the Gods is also a sight to behold with the innumerable rock formations including the famous Camel Rock. Hope you see some of these other sights while in the area!
