Ascent Trip ReportMy first time up to Petersburg Pass and on the Taconic Crest Trail. Wonderful views from the parking lot. Trail is somewhat steep in the beginning, but much of it is flat, nice level wide trail, none of those stones to balance on as in the Adirondacks. Hiked up in little under 2 hours. Nice bald grassy summit and no wind today. Nice views. Decided to hike up to Mt. Raimer on the way down and kept going on that trail to descend. Seemed easier. Back at the car by 1:00. Some snow of the trail, but nothing you could not "boot" through. Great weather, in the 30s to start, sun came out fully on the way down, warm. Spotted a colt's foot on trail right as we came out, first wild flower for me this spring. Short day, but great outing.
