Ascent Trip Report

Slept at the Trailhead Thursday night, woke up and hiked in basin - passed Dollar lake early and got to base of Gunsight Pass by 11:00 am. We were feeling spry so decided to drop packs, set up tents, and head for the summit. Made summit by 4:30 or so - decided to drop off South West? side of peak - short cut (this was not as good as we had hoped, the boulders were large and hurt your legs jumping down them. Reached bottom finally and laid down out of exhaustion. Finally made it back to camp by 8 pm or so, made dinner (took forever, saved our selves by eating sour patch kids!), nearly froze while waiting for water to boil, and went to sleep. Woke up in morning and broke camp and hiked on the West side of Basin - checked out other lakes and enjoyed the beautiful Uintas! It was a great experience. Made it to the car around 3 pm and drove home.
