Ascent Trip Report2 part trip.. did Field Willey Tom first at a good pace whole loop with Avalon less than 4 hours. Then tacked on Jackson.. spent 4 hours just to hike that one including a failed attempt on Webster. Second major ascent was slow as to be expected going up Jackson. Trail to Webster was tough. I knew I would need to be fast to beat sunset so if the going went bad I was going to turn around. About half way there the going went bad. Absolutely no discernible trace of a trail -- just like that. No blazes or even a depression in the snow, which I had been following. Tried for a while to see where I could have veered off, found blazes again but then they vanished in a wall of spruce. Had a guess where to go based on the map but late in the day I don't guess so I retreated.
