Ascent Trip ReportX-country walk on fallow field ...... 600 yards, 25 minutes RT for both areas.
Bob Schwab's TR of 2002 directed us to the narrow Dirt Road on the south side of Rte 309, west of the Galion Municipal Airport, and as he reports it looks more like a driveway than a road. To the west of the Dirt Road is a small grey house, we didn't see the sign "The Cake Place".
We approached from the west on 309 and found the Dirt Road 1.7 miles east of the large GM Dealer at the east end of Galion, a few hundred yards past the Attic Mini Storage buildings on the left.
We drove .2 miles south to the first house on the left, it has a "For Sale" sign, it has been winterized, there was no one home. We parked in front of the the garage.
Area 1 ..... I walked the fallow field southeast 100 yards to the obvious highground. I stomped around some and chose my spot at 40.74502, 82.72968 at about 60 yards from the start of the woods to the east.
Area 2 ..... I walked the field north from Area 1 100 yards to a row of trees, then east along the tree line 100 yards. The obvious highround is 30 yards north in the open field.
We moved on to Richland County.
