Ascent Trip Report11 hikers and I hiked at Moosilauke on 3/13/2011 on Beaver Brook Trail. This trail was suggested by my hiking friend, Dan.L. All 11 hikers are my friends who I met since last May to now. We hiked together at least one peak out of NE100 Highest last year.
It was snowing from the starting point, however, the snow is very well packed on the trail. So 11 people including me put on Microspikes and 1 guy had snowshoes because he doesn't have Microspikes. Everyone brought Snowshoes and Crampons just in case at the ledges hike-in near the summit. But all ice on the ledges are more or less covered by 2 inches of snow. So we didn't have to use crampons.
It was very windy and snowy, whiteout near the summit and we could only stayed 5 min or so. We hiked down to shelter to eat lunch and celebrate my NEHH list completion. Wine, Champgne, cookies, Hot chocolate, English tea, chocolate were given to everyone.
Some people did butt sledding at the end.
It was fun hike!
