Ascent Trip ReportBloody Run is approached from Hwy 95 about 10 miles north of Winnemucca. I turned west on signed Sand Pass Road and zeroed my odometer. At 2.6 miles I turned right on the gas line road and at 5.1 miles turned left on a lesser road going up into Paiute Canyon. At 9.3 miles I stopped where the road turns away from the creek and heads up to the ridge on the right. Bloody Run is about a mile straight ahead. I looked at hiking up the right side and then across the head of the canyon to the summit and then hiking up the left side and then up the south ridge to the summit. I decided the left side looked easier and that's what I did. The terrain is easy, but the slope is steep and it got steeper the higher I went. On top there is an interesting metal sculpture. Fantastic views in all directions. The north ridge looked a lot rockier and may even be Class 3 in spots. I was glad I came up the south ridge.
