Ascent of Mount Carleton on 2007-09-08
|Others in Party:||J. Mlynarek|
|Date:||Saturday, September 8, 2007|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Location:||Canada-New Brunswick|
| Elevation:||819 m / 2690 ft|
Ascent Trip ReportWe took the long way to the summit via Mount Sagamook and Mount Head. The Sagamook Trail is comparable in difficulty to some of the easier trails to NH 4000 footers and the elevation gain is considerably less. Both Sagamook and Head have open summits with great views and unless you're a highpointer in a hurry it is a nice route to Carleton. Mt. Carleton has a twin summit, with the old fire hut on the northernmost of the two. The hut is a lot more decrepit than it was 10 years ago and may be on its way out, unless the park decides to put some serious effort into fixing it up.
