Ascent Trip ReportBusiness trip to Hunstville. Meeting started at 10:00 AM. Got up at 5AM packed took crampons in case it was icey (rained day before and was supposed ot get down to 26F) but once again i was not able to use them (not needed). Made the trail at 6AM was too dark to start so i put on boots ate quick breakfast and left at daybreak in the overcast fog around 6:30AM was down by 8:15. Back at the hotel and showered/shaved arrived in the office by 9AM
Hike was uneventful. Not many views despite the prominence and only from powere easement. White Oak, red oak, some maples and lots of juniper-cedars. Saw lots of big Alabama deer once again startling them and them flashing thier flags. One noisy barred owl.
Summit no views and i overshot the summit and descended around 40 feet beyond before i confirmed i had topped out. The trail is not steep and meanders giving some extra gain in 5 to 10 foot bumps estimated at 80 feet each way.
Trail was very muddy and i still have not been able to get he clay out of my nice new alpine boots.
